FAQ of Area219.com

Do I have to type my article in, or can I upload it?
It's a good idea to open your article up in a word processor like Microsoft Word, and then copy and paste it into the online HTML editor on Area219.com. This can help to catch spelling and grammatical errors. As of this time, we don't take direct file uploads, but we're always looking for newer, better methods of allowing writers to transfer their work to the site.

Can I link to my web business within my article?

Only if you truly believe that the link will benefit the reader. If your article is just, well, spam for your website, then, sorry to say, we'll have to remove it from Area219.com. If your article is nothing but praise for your own site for two and a half pages, the fact is… nobody really wants to read it. On the other hand, if you run a website for financial advice, and you're writing about the economy, a link to your site may actually be helpful, and appreciated, for the readers, but to be honest, it's kind of a thin line between being helpful, and shameless self promotion. The best way to promote your business is simply to link to it in the author's bio at the end of each article

Do you guys accept every single article thrown your way?

Most certainly not. The main rule of thumb is that we do not take SPAM. We're in the business of providing helpful content to publishers and readers, and providing publishers and readers to writers of helpful content. As a matter of professional ethics, we don't do advertising or self-promotion. An article doesn't necessarily have to be Great Literature before we'll show it to publishers, but it does have to be helpful and useful to readers. Take a look at our article submission guidelines for a more in-depth explanation.

Does Area219.com accept automated and bulk article submissions?

Nope. This is actually in violation of the article submissions guidelines, and, more often than not, bulk and automated articles will be rejected. We're looking for writers, not robots.

How do you go about promoting the articles on Area219.com?

There are a couple of methods we use, primarily.

First: Mostly, we just link related articles to one another. You might be surprised at how effective this is. Think about your last visit to wiki page. You might've gone there just hoping to fact check and find out when your favourite movie was released, but while there, you probably wound up clicking on the director's name and reading his wiki page, then you read about one of his other movies, and then about the book it was based on, and then the author, and so on and so on. When you're caught up reading a good article, it gets addictive, you want to learn more and more. This is how most of the articles on Area219.com get discovered.

Second: We use a basic search engine function for each submission, which links the article to various other search engines and directories. This needs to be initiated by the writer who submitted the article, and it is optional, but recommended./ How can I respond to and manage comments left on my articles?/ When you log into your author account, you'll see a number of links on the bottom of each comment. These will let you reply to, and delete comments.

I want to be a "featured author"! How do I do it?!

Featured authors are those who have been hand picked by Area219.com's editors based on a number of things. These could include the style and quality of your work, the popularity of your articles, and the number of people in your "fan club", to list a few.

How long should my articles be?

We don't allow more than 120 characters for the title of an article, and 15,000 characters for the article itself. This restricts size to, on average, around 2,000 words per article.

How long will my article stay on Area219.com?

At least six months, on average. The articles will be maintained for as long as it has a significant number of readers. If an article hasn't had many readers in a while, it will be archived. In the archive, the article stays on Area219.com, allowing the author to read it, but it will not be viewable by other visitors to the website.

When are submissions reviewed?

We usually start checking them out around 7AM and call it a day around 10PM, eastern standard time, seven days a week. If you submit an article while we're at work, we usually get around to reading it within a couple hours.

How many articles can I submit at a time?

The short answer: As many as you like. However, we strongly suggest that you take a minute to ensure that they're all properly formatted, and bear in mind that we won't always be able to review and approve all of your articles at once./ What kind of articles does Area219.com accept?

Just about anything. However, we favour articles written for the sheer passion that an author has for the subject over the ones written for profit. Of course, you're here to sell articles, but try to sell articles about something you love. If your article appears to just be trying to cash in on some recent trend or buzzword, or a marketable subject, and it's obvious that you're not really into it, we still may accept it, but don't expect it to be promoted quite as prominently as articles written on the same subject by more enthusiastic writers. Passion is twice as important as eloquence. And of course, we just plain don't like spam. Don't be surprised if we reject an article about a spammy subject like sexual enhancement.

In terms of actual content and subject matter that is and isn't okay, again, we'll take just about anything from marriage advice to sports editorials to book reviews, but we don't take articles that are inappropriate for all age groups, that promote hatred, or that contain profanity.

What happened to my article's formatting when I pasted it into the HTML editor?

This happens sometimes with certain word processors. The quick fix: Just save the article as an HTML document before you copy and paste it from your word processor. You could also just paste it into notepad before pasting it into the HTML editor, so as to remove all of the special formatting.

Hey, YOU guys changed my formatting! What gives?

Sometimes, we have to reformat articles to make them more readable or edit them to fit the terms of service. If this is a problem then by all means contact us, and we'll remove the article as soon as possible.

Why did you close my account/remove an article of mine?

We won't close your account unless you have shown blatant disregard for our submission guidelines. This could mean that the first article you submitted has strongly violated our terms of service or guidelines, or it could be because of numerous, smaller violations over a number of articles. Most of the time, if we shut down an account, or remove an article, it's for one of the following reasons:

Author account issues
(A user account with a bad email address or an obviously false name, or a user who constantly disregards the terms of service.)

Disallowed content or subject
Duplicate article submissions or plagiarism
Excessive errors in formatting or spelling and grammar
Gambling related (as of this time, we do not accept articles on online gambling)
High SPAM topics (sexual enhancement, etcetera)
Lack of proper authorship attribution
Shameless self promotion
Repeated content (article is largely a rehash of other articles you've submitted)
Repeated content (article mostly comprised of articles you've already submitted)
